September 2008 - A team of Isle of White firefighters will cycle from Great Britain to Rome, Italy, in September 2008 in aid of Wessex Cancer Trust. Their aim is to raise £70,000. Ken Hall MemorialAugust Bank Holiday - Ken Hall Memorial Moto X at Langrish. The track at Langrish has been completely overhauled since last year's race. This has been completed by two machines from the Blanchard Wells Hitachi fleet, a ZX210 and a ZX180. All works were monitored and controlled by Mark Blanchard and the ACU.
New Headquarters!
August 2008 - The scaffold is down on the prestigious new headquarters at Soberton! With the peg tiled roof and oak cladding in place the scaffold has been removed. This will allow the groundworkers to commence the external works - lets hope they do a good job!
P&O Cruise Terminal ContractAugust 2008 - Blanchard Wells has secured the remainder of the prestigious new P&O Cruise terminal contract for Dean & Dyball. Work commenced on the groundbeam package in June and the performance of the site team lead by site Manager Matthew Thomas, ensured that Blanchard Wells were in a strong position for the main package.
Waitrose contract beginsAugust 2008 - ITS FINALLY STARTED! After a year, the eagerly awaited new Waitrose development on the Stockbridge Road at Weeke near Winchester has started. The commercial team, lead by Director Mark Wells, have worked closely with Main Contractor Norwest Holst to secure the cir £3m civils package. It includes the concrete walls and frame that will be completed by our own Southern Concrete Ltd. Concrete supplier Cemex has contributed to the methodology of the works with the implementation of the 60N self compacting concrete which will be used on all exposed concrete. The works on site commenced on 18th August with the first 10 working days being filled by the removal of 15,000m3 of chalk from site at a rate of 150 loads per day. This will be loaded by the newly acquired Hitachi ZX280 driven by John Craig.
Extension to Naomi House children's hospiceAugust 2008 - The extension to the Naomi House children's hospice has commenced. The team will see a new face in Foreman Paul Crisp who has joined us from Laing O'Rourke. Paul has fitted in exceptionally well and is working closely with Contracts Director Mark Blanchard and client Dean & Dyball.
McCarthy & Stone awards contractJuly 2008 - New Client McCarthy and Stone has awarded the Tower Road Liphook contract to the Blanchard Wells team which will see Contracts Manager Chris Nicolls manage new foreman Paul Symmonds.
£750,000 groundworks projectJune 2008 - The £750,000 groundworks project on the Leadbitter contract at Southampton City College has been started very quickly after the final sum was negotiated.
New Blanchard Wells HeadquartersWork is well underway for the construction of new purpose built office accommodation for all of the companies within the Blanchard Wells Group. The building is due to be completed in the early autumn and has been carefully designed to take into account the rural setting at The Meadows. The team has worked very closely with the local planners to accommodate their requirements whilst still achieving the main aim of the Directors' Design Brief.
Southern ConcreteMark Blanchard and Mark Wells have joined forces with local formwork contractor Paines Ltd, led by Richard Paine, and set up Southern Concrete Ltd. Meeting an increased demand to supply, place and finish concrete to external yards and warehouse floor slabs, Southern Concrete will utilise the expertise of both Blanchard Wells and Paines and lead the way within the region for concrete placing and concrete frames. view image£440,000 groundworks contract awarded by Dean and Dyball August 2007 - Dean and Dyball's regional office in Maidstone has awarded Blanchard Wells a £440,000 groundworks contract for Phase I of the redevelopment of St George's Retirement Village at Ditchling Common, Nr. Burgess Hill, West Sussex. Works are due to start onsite Monday 1st October 2007. New client New client, Tinos Homes, has awarded two contracts to Blanchard Wells; 11 houses at Chalvington Crescent, Chandlers Ford and 5 houses at New Haw, Nr Addlestone.
Blanchard Wells invests £350,000 in new equipment
July 2007 - Blanchard Wells has invested in excess of £350,000 in new plant, machinery and vehicles. The Company has purchased a total of seven new machines in the first six months of 2007.
HBG Construction awards Blanchard Wells £500,000 contract
July 2007 - A groundworks package valued in excess of £500,000 has been awarded to Blanchard Wells by HBG Construction. The contract includes reinforced groundbeams, drainage and externals to the new Kings Copse Juniors School at Hedge End, Southampton. All works will be completed under a partnering agreement between HBG and Hampshire County Council.
Mark Wells outlines expansion plans
June 2007 - Newly appointed Foremen and Managers attended a breakfast reception at The Red Lion Hotel, Fareham, Hampshire, in June. Managing Director Mark Wells outlined Blanchard Wells’ proposed expansion plans and vision for the future.
New Contracts Manager appointed
June 2007 - Chris Nichols has joined the Blanchard Wells team as a Contracts Manager. Mark Wells, Blanchard Wells’ Managing Director, said: “Chris is extremely experienced in this role and we are sure he will fit in well representing the company on site and working closely with all of our Site Managers and Foremen.”
Blanchard Wells builds track for British Motocross Grand Prix
May 2007 - A Blanchard Wells Hitachi ZX210 excavator was used to build the track for the Maxxis British Motocross Grand Prix at Langrish, near Petersfield. The Grand Prix featured some of the world’s top riders. Mark Blanchard and his team were on hand to maintain the track throughout the weekend.
Blanchard Wells backs winning football team
April 2007 - Blanchard Wells has extended its main sponsorship of the phenomenally successful Eastleigh Rangers Football Team.
Since its launch in 2003, the team has achieved promotion every year and is now at U16 level.
